Headstone Delivery, Cemetery Approval & Installation
Choosing a headstone is an important part of creating a lasting memorial for someone you love. At Casket Factory's Headstone Outlet Store, our team is here to make the process easier by helping families with cemetery requirements, monument design, delivery, and installation.
Every cemetery has different regulations regarding monument sizes, foundations, materials, and installation. Before a headstone moves forward, we work to confirm the applicable cemetery requirements so that the monument being created is suitable for the designated cemetery plot.
We proudly serve families throughout Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area, including Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Markham, Scarborough, North York, and surrounding communities.
From Your Order to the Cemetery
Ordering a cemetery monument involves more than simply choosing a stone. Measurements must be confirmed, cemetery regulations must be followed, the inscription and artwork must be designed, and the finished monument must eventually be transported and properly installed.
Our team helps coordinate these steps so families do not have to navigate the entire process alone.
1. Cemetery Information
When placing your order, we will ask for the cemetery name and location along with information about the burial plot.
This allows us to determine what monument requirements apply to your particular cemetery and plot.
Depending on the cemetery, requirements may include restrictions on:
Monument dimensions
Granite type or colour
Base dimensions
Foundation requirements
Monument style
Installation procedures
Once the necessary information is available, the monument specifications can be submitted to the cemetery when approval is required.
2. Creating Your Memorial Design
After your order has been processed, our design team prepares a layout based on the information and options you selected.
Your proof may show the deceased's name, dates, inscription, lettering style, religious symbols, artwork, photographs, and other personalized elements.
You will have an opportunity to review the layout before giving your approval.
Please take the time to carefully check all names, dates, spelling, wording, photographs, artwork, and other details. The approved layout becomes the design used to prepare your monument.
Approval Makes Your Order Final
Because cemetery monuments are individually designed and produced for a specific family and burial location, they cannot be treated like ordinary retail products.
Once you have approved the monument layout and/or the cemetery has approved the monument specifications, your order becomes final. There are no refunds, cancellations, or exchanges after approval.
Approval may result in granite being ordered or reserved, custom artwork being prepared, lettering stencils being produced, engraving work being scheduled, and other production work beginning.
For this reason, we strongly encourage customers to carefully review the complete monument design before providing final approval.
Changes requested after approval may not be possible. Where a change can still be accommodated, additional design, material, engraving, production, or administrative charges may apply.
Monument Production
Once the necessary approvals and payment requirements have been completed, your monument can move into production.
Completion times vary depending on the monument selected. A monument made from available inventory may be completed sooner, while custom monuments, special granite colours, detailed carvings, and specially ordered stones generally require additional time.
Production timelines are estimates. Workshop schedules, material availability, equipment, weather, cemetery requirements, holidays, and other circumstances may affect completion and installation dates.
Our priority is not simply to finish a monument quickly, but to produce a memorial that your family can be proud of for generations.
Delivery and Cemetery Installation
When your monument is complete and the cemetery is ready for installation, arrangements can be made to transport the stone to the cemetery.
Where cemetery regulations allow, our installation team will place and level the monument on the approved foundation.
Certain cemeteries require monuments to be installed by cemetery personnel or an approved cemetery contractor. When this applies, the cemetery may charge the family directly for installation or setting services.
Cemetery Foundations and Additional Fees
An upright monument generally requires a proper foundation to support the weight of the granite and keep the monument level.
Many cemeteries construct their own foundations and charge the family a separate foundation fee. These cemetery charges are not included in the monument price unless specifically stated on your order.
Depending on the cemetery, there may also be permit, care and maintenance, installation, setting, or other cemetery fees.
Where outside contractors are permitted to perform foundation or installation work, we may be able to provide or arrange these services at an additional cost.
Serving the Greater Toronto Area
We provide monument services throughout the GTA and surrounding areas.
For qualifying orders and cemeteries within our regular service area, monument delivery and professional installation may be included where we are permitted to perform the installation.
For locations outside our regular service area, additional transportation, freight, unloading, foundation, or installation charges may apply.
Because granite monuments are extremely heavy, larger monuments may require specialized transportation and equipment. We will advise you of applicable additional charges based on the monument and cemetery location.
Monument Installation During the Winter
Ontario's weather plays an important role in cemetery installation schedules.
When the ground freezes, many cemeteries stop pouring foundations and installing monuments. Each cemetery determines its own seasonal installation schedule.
A monument that is completed during the winter may therefore need to remain safely stored until the cemetery resumes installations and ground conditions are suitable.
Spring installation dates can also be affected by weather, cemetery backlogs, and foundation schedules.
Families hoping to have a monument installed within a particular season should place their orders as early as possible.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Casket Factory contact the cemetery?
Yes. Our team can work with the cemetery to obtain information about monument requirements and submit the necessary monument specifications for approval.
We will need accurate cemetery and burial plot information from you before this process can begin.
Can I make changes after approving my layout?
Your layout should be considered final once you approve it.
If production has not progressed too far, certain changes may sometimes be possible for an additional charge. However, we cannot guarantee that changes can be made after approval.
Please carefully check the entire proof before approving it.
Can I cancel my monument after cemetery or layout approval?
No. Monument orders are final after the customer approves the layout and/or the cemetery approves the monument specifications. There are no refunds, cancellations, or exchanges after approval.
Each monument is prepared specifically for the customer and cemetery plot. Materials, custom lettering, artwork, stencils, and production work may be committed immediately following approval.
Who pays the cemetery foundation fee?
Cemetery foundation and related cemetery fees are normally separate from the monument purchase.
If the cemetery requires payment directly from the family, the customer is responsible for those charges.
Is installation included?
Installation may be included for qualifying monuments within our regular GTA service area when the cemetery permits our team to perform the installation.
If the cemetery requires its own personnel or contractor to install the monument, any cemetery installation or setting charges are the customer's responsibility.
What happens if my monument is completed during winter?
If weather or frozen ground prevents installation, the monument will have to wait until the cemetery permits installations to resume.
This does not affect the completion of your monument itself; it affects when the finished monument can be installed at the cemetery.
Do you service cemeteries outside the GTA?
Yes. We can provide monument delivery to many locations throughout Ontario and beyond our regular GTA service area.
Additional freight, delivery, unloading, foundation, and installation charges may apply depending on the cemetery location and the size and weight of the monument.
A Lasting Memorial for Generations
At Casket Factory's Headstone Outlet Store, we understand that a headstone is much more than a piece of granite. It becomes a permanent memorial representing a person's life, memories, and connection to their family.
Our goal is to help you create a beautiful and meaningful tribute while guiding you through the cemetery approval, design, production, delivery, and installation process.

Cemetery & Layout Approval – No Refunds or Exchanges
Before your headstone or monument enters production, our team will work with the cemetery to confirm that the monument meets the requirements for the designated burial plot. You will also receive a monument layout showing the approved design details, including names, dates, inscriptions, lettering, artwork, photographs, and other selected features.
Please carefully review your monument layout before providing your approval. It is the customer's responsibility to confirm that all names, dates, spelling, wording, artwork, photographs, and other design details are correct.
IMPORTANT: Once the cemetery has approved the monument specifications OR the customer has approved the monument layout, the order is considered final. There are NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES after either approval has been provided.
This policy applies because every headstone and monument is specially ordered and/or customized for a particular family and cemetery plot. Once approval is received, granite may be ordered or allocated, custom stencils may be created, lettering and artwork may be prepared, and production may begin.
If a customer requests a change after approval, we will determine whether the change is still possible based on the stage of production. Any changes that can be accommodated may be subject to additional design, material, engraving, labour, or production charges.
Can I cancel, return, or exchange my monument after approval?
No. Once the cemetery has approved the monument specifications OR you have approved the monument layout, the sale is final. There are no refunds or exchanges.
Because monuments are custom products prepared for a specific cemetery plot and individual family, they cannot be returned or resold like standard retail merchandise.
We strongly encourage customers to carefully review and confirm all monument details before providing final approval.
Production & Estimated Completion Timelines
Once the required cemetery approval, customer layout approval, and payment requirements have been completed, your headstone or monument can proceed into production.
We will always make every reasonable effort to complete your monument within the estimated timeframe provided. However, all production, completion, delivery, and installation timelines are estimates and are not guaranteed.
Unexpected circumstances can sometimes cause delays that are beyond our reasonable control. These may include material or granite availability, supplier or shipping delays, equipment breakdowns, workshop or production issues, cemetery processing times, foundation schedules, cemetery installation restrictions, severe weather, winter ground conditions, transportation delays, labour disruptions, government restrictions, or other unforeseen circumstances.
Casket Factory and Headstone Outlet Store are not responsible for delays caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control. An unexpected delay does not constitute grounds for a refund, cancellation, exchange, discount, or compensation.
We understand the importance of having a memorial completed and installed in a timely manner and will make every reasonable effort to move your order forward as efficiently as possible. If an unexpected delay occurs, we will continue working toward completion and installation as soon as reasonably possible.
Important Order & Approval Policy
Please carefully review your monument layout and all order details before providing approval.
Once the cemetery has approved the monument specifications OR the customer has approved the monument layout, the order is considered final. There are NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES after either approval has been provided.
Headstones and monuments are specially ordered and/or customized for a particular family and cemetery plot. Following approval, granite may be ordered or allocated, custom stencils may be produced, artwork and lettering may be prepared, and production work may begin.
Estimated production or installation timelines are provided as a guideline only. A delay in the estimated completion, delivery, or installation date does not change the final-sale status of an approved monument order.
